Protecting Children’s Privacy

1 The data and personal privacy of InkSpark’s users, especially those under 13, is most important to us. We do not accept written submissions from children without express permission from a parent or caregiver. This can be in the form of an email. Any submissions must come via Chill Subs, a third-party submission management website. We specify to children submitting that they must have the permission of their parent or caregiver. If writing is submitted by teachers on behalf of students, parents must have given permission.

2 We will do our best to confirm with a parent/caregiver that their child has submitted writing for publication. We will explain the purpose of the information we collect. Parents/caregivers may withdraw consent at this time.

3 Any communication with the child about revisions to their writing will be conducted through Chill Subs’ platform, using the communication method selected by the parent/caregiver/teacher who has submitted on the child’s behalf. We will not ask for direct contact information with the child, nor will we attempt to contact them separately. If a child contacts InkSpark directly, we will directly respond once to any specific questions related to their writing or publication. The parent/caregiver/teacher will be notified. Any contact information directly connected to the child will be purged at the end of this communication.

4 We will never ask for more information about children than their first name, age at the time of submission, and a broad location (city/country). This information would be shared along with any published work. Parents/caregivers can request this information be withheld, and the writing may be published anonymously.

5 We will not knowingly publish personally identifiable information about children aged 13 or under that may be included in the content of submitted work. The work will be edited in advance to remove personally identifiable information, or, if published, removed from the site.

6 We will not knowingly share links to sites that are unsuitable for children.

7 If asked, InkSpark will provide parents/caregivers with a list of personal information collected about their child during the submission and publication process. Requests can be made by email.

Embedded content from other websites
